20 Questions with Ryan Clark
Mike Farber

What is your name, age, and whom do you ride for?
Ryan Clark, age 30, and I ride for Team Redux Beverages/Brawndo Honda.

First time you were on a motorcycle?
The first time that I can remember was in the dirt lot next to my house on my neighbor’s 50cc.  I didn’t get my own bike until my seventh birthday.

How many years have you been racing?
I have been racing for 22 years.

Why do you like racing so much?
I enjoy the competitive element of sports.  Practicing can be a drag sometimes, but when the gate drops it is like the first time, every time. That never gets old.

Best race you’ve ever seen?
That is a really difficult question to answer because there are always good battles going on all over the track.  I have seen some great battles for the lead but also deeper in the field.

Your greatest accomplishment so far?
Hand’s down my children and my wife is alright, too.

Favorite racer of all-time?
Rick Johnson had the image, charisma and skill.  That is a difficult combination to beat.

Tell us something about your hometown?
Phoenix is a good place to live, if you don’t count the fact that it is 120 degrees all summer long.

One thing you take with you when you travel?
My laptop.  There is no better place to work than on the airplane.

What do you eat before a race?
I try to keep it light, like a piece of grilled salmon.

What kind of music do you listen to?
Due to the people I surround myself with, I am forced to listen to pretty much every genre in existence.  I prefer acoustic rock, classic rock, or old country if I am in control of the dial.

Favorite TV show?
I don’t watch television anymore.

Favorite magazine?
If I didn’t put RACER X, you would just put it in anyway.

Most annoying thing about you?
I micromanage.

Married, girlfriend, or single?
Married w/girlfriend.

Favorite actor or actress?
Tyler Evans.

Hottest chick on earth?
My wife.

Favorite meal?
Turkey Potpie.

When you’re done racing, what would you like to do?
Retire, but that won’t happen.  I just opened a shop in Phoenix with my partner Jesse Black called The Dirt Lab.  You can check it out at www.thedirtlab.com.

Do you have a website address or MYSPACE page?
I have many.  The main one is www.teamsolitaire.com for the race team and myspace.com/teamsolitaire and www.drinkbrawndo.com
