It was a great week off, and Easter was amazing. I got to spend the weekend with my family and friends. Being on the road every weekend really makes you realize your family is important. It is almost like a treat when you get to spend quality time with them. I definitely felt refreshed and ready for what Seattle had to offer.
I left on Friday for my three-hour flight, praying it would not rain! The weather was showing about 30 percent chance, and in Washington, that is almost guaranteed rain. Thankfully, it was gorgeous! I will admit coming from the 95 degree weather here in Arizona to the 50 degrees in Washington was a heart breaker. Seattle was so pretty. There were trees everywhere and it was so green. The downtown area (where I stayed) reminded me of San Francisco. The hills where so steep and there was a Starbucks Coffee on every corner! I guess coffee does sound good when it rains.
When I arrived at the stadium on Saturday I was suprised that there where already so many people just walking around. This was the place to be for the weekend. Right next door to Qwest Field was a Mariner's baseball game. Downtown Seattle was going to be packed. During the track walk, I noticed the track was similar to a sand track. My feet were sinking in as if the dirt was foam. I knew this would be an interesting night! I could not wait.
It was 3:00PM and it was time for me to go into the pits. I don’t know what it was about Seattle, but the pits where jammed packed. This only made me more excited to meet everyone. I stayed out there for about 2 hours, and didn’t mind the cold one bit. The fans where so nice! I must say there where a lot of Reed fans there! I would love to go back to Washington soon to visit Washougal, and the rest of the beautiful state.
Race time! Right off the bat, the night was getting crazy. Jason Morias took the Heat 1 race win of the lites. In Heat 2 of the lites, was Troy Lee rider Jake “the snake” Moss. Coming out to win the lites LCQ was none other than Mr. Supercross himself, Chris Blose, also on the Troy Lee Honda. The main event was so exciting. It was great to see Ryan Dungey back up on the podium with his victory. Following Ryan was Morias and Trey Canard with the third place. Trey was so excited he instantly ripped off his jersey, gloves and goggles, and threw them in the crowd.
For the Main Event, the night was even crazier! Chad Reed went down in the holeshot and didn’t make it up to the top 5! Everyone has their rough days. I am sure he will come out with vengeance in Salt Lake. It was also weird to see James Stewart in the number 2 position, with Ryan Villopoto in the number one. In third place was Davi Millsaps! It was great to see the smiles on these guys’ faces. They did awesome and were holding their heads high. Good job guys!
Next week is Salt Lake City, Utah. I can’t wait to see what happens next. We are getting close to the end :( but that makes for some intense racing! Hope to see you there!
