Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:
- I am able to login and view the player, but the audio or video does not load. What should I do?
Right-click the window viewing area above the media controls. Select Options. Select the Network tab. Uncheck the UDP option under the Streaming Protocols section.
- I am able to login and view the player, but I get a blank white screen in the media player and the audio or video does not load. What should I do?
Make sure you are using Internet Explorer 6 or above. At this time, Windows Media is not supported in the FireFox browser.
- If you lose your stream what do you do?
In a long event, like Supercross LIVE this is not uncommon. Your computer may go to sleep, or your internet service provider may shut down your connection. Believe it our not, sometimes, a constant small amount of data transfer appears to internet servers as zero data, and the servers "thinks" you are no longer online.
The best practice is to simply click the PLAY button on your Windows Media Player again and it will restart (or refresh) the stream.
In rare cases, you may need to close your browser window and restart the player application again.
If you do not get a response from your player, or that creates an error in the player, it means that your ISP has dropped your internet connection. You will need to re-connect to the internet.
If you are using a dial-up type connection, and the stream is constantly connecting and closing this is NOT the same issue as above.
This issue is normally an ISP connectivity issue. In order to resolve this quickly: shut down your media player. Shut down any other applications running on your computer. Disconnect from the internet. Reconnect to the internet and open only your browser and your Windows Media Player.
-
If you have a solid stream (which you should), then you may try to open additional applications.
What if my stream is buffering a lot? -Did you upgrade your internet connection recently? If so, you may need to change the settings on your Media Player to match your new internet connection. You can access this setting (which should be setting to “Auto Detect”) by opening the TOOLS/OPTIONS/PERFORMANCE menu.
How many applications do you have running? If you have multiple internet based applications running in addition to Windows Media Player, like Microsoft Outlook, this may create a lag on your computer and may cause your stream to buffer, particularly if you are sending or recieving e-mail.
There are several settings on your Windows Media Player, called protocols. These should all be “open”, or checked. These can be found at the menu in your player under TOOLS/OPTIONS/NETWORK.
- How can I make Supercross LIVE! Play through my stereo?
If your computer has a line out port, as well as microphone port, then attach a mini-pin plug to the line out port with RCA or some other input type plugs to your stereos AUX input jack.
